The family urges in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Franklin Public Library in her memory.
Angela Renee Dreher, of Franklin, went to eternal rest early morning Saturday, February 4, 2023 after spending time with loving family at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings, Nebraska. She was born on August 18, 1961 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Robert and Patricia (Schlichtemeier) Armstrong. Angel grew up in rural Bassett, Nebraska and graduated from Rock County Public School in 1979. She received her Bachelor's in Education from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln in 1983 and her Master's in Curriculum Development. At her first teaching position at Spalding Public Schools, she met the love of her life, fellow educator and coach, Tom Dreher. They were married July 20, 1985. To this union, two daughters were born, Alyssa and Taylor. Tom and Angel moved to Franklin in 1991 after accepting positions at Franklin Public Schools. Angel taught and coached many students and athletes over her 30 years as an educator and retired from Franklin Public Schools in 2022.
Angel was a devoted wife and mother, a loving nana, and fierce friend. Her greatest joy in life was watching her family grow. She was a very invested and compassionate friend. Angel's friends were more like family. Her caring nature made her perfectly suited to be an educator. She strived to lead by example and taught her students valuable life lessons. Angel had numerous hobbies throughout her life. She was an avid reader and a long-time library board member. A wonderful cook, she would spend hours thumbing through recipe books searching for new recipes to try out on her friends and family. As a child, Angel spent a lot of time on horseback with her dad and brothers. Sports played an important role throughout her life. She participated in or coached various sports including: volleyball, basketball, track, golf, swimming, and softball. Her competitive spirit was infectious. Angel always put others first and would lend a helping hand or listening ear to those in need. Her welcoming smile would light up a room.
Angel was preceded in death by her father, Robert (Bob) Armstrong; grandparents, Melvin and Gladys Schlichtemeier and Robert and Evelyn Armstrong; mother-in-law, Mary Stauffer; sister-in-law, Pam Dreher; and numerous loved ones. She will be forever remembered by her husband, Tom; children Aly and Adam Sindt and Taylor and Brandon Herrick; grandchildren, Cash and Amara Sindt; parents, Patricia and Tom Thompson; siblings, Rob Armstrong, Michael and Roxann Armstrong, Kim and Dale Theisen, and Troy and Nancy Thompson; in-laws, Rod and Dixie Dreher, Anne and Ron Schmidt, and Dan and Juliet Stauffer; numerous loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and students.
Family will be greeting family and friends Friday, February 10th from 5pm to 7pm at Hutchins Funeral Home, Franklin, Nebraska. Memorial services will be 10:30 am Saturday, February 11th at the Franklin Public High School with The Reverend Marcia Dorn officiating. Family requests that instead of sending flowers, make a memorial in Angela’s honor to the Franklin Public Library. Hutchins Funeral Home, Franklin assisted the Dreher family with these cremation arrangements.
