Barbara (Frerichs) Decker

Barbara (Frerichs) Decker was born in Alma, Nebraska on September 15, 1939, the daughter of Weert and Esther (Janssen) Frerichs. She grew up in Ash Grove township nine miles north of Bloomington. Barbara was baptized at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ash Grove.

Barbara attended country school near Bloomington, Nebraska until 1947. She then attended Bloomington public school and graduated from Bloomington High School with the Class of 1957. She attended business college in Omaha, Nebraska. While attending this school she had several jobs.

From 1957 to 1964 she lived with the Litton family and helped with their children. In 1964 Barbara married Larry Decker at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ash Grove. Larry was in the Navy, so the couple moved to Virginia. After leaving Virginia, they moved to Vallejo, California. In 1970 Barbara and Larry adopted their son Steven John Decker.

The family moved back to Nebraska when Larry retired from the Navy in 1977. Barbara worked in Franklin in retail sales while raising their son.

Due to failing health, Barbara moved to Arbor Care Center in Franklin. At the age of 84 she passed from this life on Wednesday, December 13^th, 2023. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Larry in 2007; two sisters Gwendolyn and JoAnn and two brothers Wayne and Wendell.

Barbara will be forever remembered by her son Steven Decker and wife Gina, and granddaughter Regan of Franklin, several nieces and nephews and many friends.

A memorial service in her honor will be held at 10:00am Friday, December 22^nd, 2023 at Hutchins Funeral Home, Franklin with Pastor Kasey Loschen officiating. Family inurnment will take place in Greenwood cemetery at a later time. Hutchins Funeral Home, Franklin, Nebraska.
