Barbara A. Overleese

The family has chosen cremation services following her wishes. 

Barbara Ann Overleese, 77, passed away Friday, July 19, 2024, at Arbor Care Center in Franklin, Nebraska. Barb was born July 13, 1947, in Holdrege, Nebraska, to Merle and Elinor Davenport. She was the oldest of six children. She graduated from Orleans High School in 1965. Later, she attended Central Community College to earn her Registered Nursing Degree in 1999.

Barb married Bill Goosic in 1966 and to this union five children were born. They later divorced. In 2006, Don Overleese invited her to supper and in October, 2006, they were united in marriage after church services surrounded by family. They enjoyed attending the many activities of Barb’s family.

Barb was active in many organizations- PEO, Eastern Star, United Church of Christ, Riverton American Auxiliary, Franklin EMT’s and Franklin School Board.

Barb used her RN degree to display her servant heart. She was employed as Director of Nursing in several facilities and shared her love with many residents. If you knew Barb, you probably enjoyed her gooey cinnamon rolls. She shared this hobby with many both in taste and teaching how to make them.

Barb will be forever remembered by her children: Monica (Stacey) James; Veronica (Kim) Pearson; Amy (Tim) Schmidt; Andy (Jessica) Goosic; Eli Goosic (friend Rick), Nico (Belinda) Matthews, and Silke Gesierich. Grandchildren: Jenna (Kyle) Pritchard; Logan (Megan) James; Miranda (Tanner) Teel; Travler, Brylee, Gage (Kristen) Pearson; and Nicholas (Taylor) Pearson; Tanner, Tucker, Sylvia, and Turner Schmidt; Drew (Tana), Emma (Blaine), Ava, Alexa, Audra, and Archer Goosic; Merissa (Dylan) Weaver, Clayton (Madisin) Weaver, Keitan and Hartleigh Bienhoff.

Great Grandchildren: Rykan, Sawyer, Waylon and Hayes Pritchard; Huxley, Braysen, and Gracelynn James; Dierks and Vivian Teel; James and Hayden Pearson; Whit and Wes Goosic; Cooper and Raelynn Jensen; and three new arrivals coming soon that she was anxiously awaiting; Siblings: Ella Porter, David Davenport, Connie Horwart, and Jeff Davenport; and a host of other family and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Don, sister: Susan Collins, brother-in-law: Bill Horwart, and great grandson: Warner Teel.

Memorial services will be held 11:00am Tuesday, July 30th, 2024 at the United Congregational Church of Christ, Franklin, Nebraska with Pastor Marcia Dorn officiating. Private family inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Franklin.

Barb’s family will be greeting family and friends Monday, July 29th from 6:00pm to 8pm at Hutchins Funeral Home, Franklin, Nebraska. Memorials may be made to the Barbara Overleese Memorial which will be designated later.
