Betty was born in Ainsworth, Nebraska on June 17, 1941 to Louis and Marilyn (Clow) Bussinger. She was raised on a ranch in southern Rock County and her education began at Pleasant Hill country school in southern Rock County, Nebraska and continued through the 8th grade. She was very proud of her country school education.

Betty and Ron Marcellus were married on August 14, 1960 and lived in Wayne, Nebraska for the next two years. She worked as a beautician while Ron finished college. The couple moved to Ainsworth for two years, Loveland, Colorado for four years, Pender Nebraska for a year and moved to Franklin, Nebraska where they lived for the past 55 years.
Betty will be forever remembered by her husband of 64 years, Ron Marcellus; daughter Jodie Jantz and husband Scott and grandchildren Seth, Sam, Clair and Lydia Jantz; son Jeff Marcellus and friend Stacy Chesseman; her brother Gary Bussinger; brother-in-law Garry Marcellus; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Betty was very active in community affairs. She made many contributions to the UCC Church over the years, as a Sunday School teacher, President of the Women’s Fellowship, church clerk, and prepared the weekly church bulletins for many years. Betty was in the P.E.O.; Eastern Star (before closing) and even served as President of the Franklin Chamber of Commerce. Betty worked part-time at the furniture store and still found the time to take care of her family.
Ron reminds us all of Abraham Lincoln’s words, “And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.” Rest in peace good and faithful servant.
