David Gaylord Wassung 75, of Republican City, NE born August 23, 1947 left this world for his heavenly home January 7, 2023. He was born in Lincoln, Nebraska to Gaylord and Bertha (Wevers) Wassung. Graduated from University High School 1965, served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Flyingfish submarine from 1965 to 1972.  Earned his bachelor’s degree from Bellevue University, employed by HP for 30 years.  Retiring in 2005 he continued to enjoy his passion for fishing and hunting along with being a lifelong steward of God’s gift to him in service to others.

Survived by stepchildren Brett (Maria) Carnito and Danielle Carnito, sister Diane (Randy) Steinhausen, brother Douglas (Ying) Wassung, sister-in-law Ruth (Darryl) Gregg, nine nephews and three nieces. Preceded in death by wife Geraldine (Campbell), parents Gaylord and Bertha Wassung, sisters Nancy Fiedler and Julie Roberts. 

 

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, January 21, 2023 at the Evangelical Free Church 1705 I St, Franklin, NE.  Services will be live streamed on the churches youtube page at:https://youtube.com/@franklinefreechurchfrankli929
