Dorothy Steinkruger

Dorothy Steinkruger, passed away from this life on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Kearney, NE at the age of 83. She was born April 5, 1927 in Riverton, NE to Charles and Stella Patton Schmidt.

She attended school through the 10th grade at Spring Valley School and graduated from Franklin High School. After graduation she was a grade school teacher in the Bienhoff District west of Macon. She married Dean Steinkruger on Februry 15, 1948 in Franklin, NE. She was a homemaker. She was a member of VFW Aux., Eagles Aux., of Kearney and the Hilltop Club, and the United Methodist Church of Franklin, NE.

She is survived by her husband Dean, Kearney, NE; daughters: Lynn Meyer and husband Ron, Doniphan, NE and Lori Nelson and husband Marty, Denver, CO; Sons: Dave Steinkruger, Bellevue, NE and Scott Steinkruger and wife Shelly, Juniata, NE; Grandchildren: Russ Meyer, Doniphan, NE; Jason Meyer, Riverton, NE; Jake Meyer and wife Emily, Lincoln, NE; Sara Steinkruger, Lincoln, NE; Trevor Steinkruger, Bellevue, NE; Andrew Nelson, Dallas, TX; Tyler Nelson, Denver, CO; Dylan and Kenna Steinkruger, Juniata, NE; Great Grandchildren: Elle Meyer, Kearney, NE; Joseph, Carson and Isaac Meyer, Hastings, NE; and Brendon Meyer, Lincoln, NE; sister: Bertha Yelken, Franklin, NE.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter- Julia Steinkruger, sons- Steve and Russell Steinkruger; brothers- Delbert, Howard, Raymond and Lester Schmidt; sisters: Pauline Hamilton, Sylvia Schafer, and Ella Schmidt.

Memorial services will be at 11:00AM Saturday, September 18, 2010 at United Methodist Church, Franklin, NE. Friends may sign the register from 8AM to 5PM, Wednesday through Friday at Hutchins Funeral Home. It was Dorothy's wishes to be cremated and have a private burial for her family. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to the National Parkinson Foundation, 1501 N.W. 9th Avenue / Bob Hope Road
