Esther Bartels

Esther Marie (Sinnen) Bartels, 102 of Franklin, formerly of Upland, Nebraska, passed away on December 15, 2018, at the Franklin Rehabilitation and care center. Esther was born on December 20, 1915, to John and Henrietta (Schultz) Sinnen at their home near Upland. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Upland.
On November 2, 1933, she married Rudolph Bartels and their home on a farm east of Macon. Five children were born to this union.
She helped her husband with their farm. Esther loved to garden and raise flowers. She was very active in her church by teaching Sunday School, ladies groups and quilting.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons - Roger and wife, Linda Bartels of Kearney, Dean Bartels of Lakewood, Colorado; daughter - Alyson and husband, Mark Morris of Hildreth; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 3 sisters, 1 brother, daughter- Ardyce Fritson, son - Neil Bartels, and a grandchild.

A celebration of life service for Esther M. Bartels will be (was) Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., at Grace Lutheran Church, Franklin, Nebraska, with Pastor Loren Cooper officiating. Burial will be in the Upland Cemetery, Upland, Nebraska. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 19, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Hutchins Funeral Home, Franklin, Nebraska.
