Ethel Irene (Trambly) Sanger was born on February 28, 1921 in Franklin, NE. She was one of 5 children born to Ephraim and Rena (Lynch) Trambly. She attended and graduated from Franklin Public School in 1938. She later attended the Nebraska State Teachers College in Kearney. Ethel was baptized in the First United Methodist Church of Franklin. She was confirmed in the Macon Zion Lutheran Church and remained a member there all her life.
On May 28, 1944 Ethel was married to Frank David Sanger. They celebrated 65 years together in 2009. They made their home northeast of Franklin and lived there until they moved to Franklin in May, 1988. To this union 3 children were born - Warren, Alan and Debra. Ethel taught 7 years in rural schools in Franklin County.
She enjoyed several clubs - American Legion Auxiliary Unit #209, WELCA at Zion Lutheran Church, bridge clubs and Hillside Friendship Club. Ethel enjoyed crafts, cards, friends and her family. She passed away on October 26, 2013 at Franklin County Memorial Hospital in Franklin at the age of 92 years, 7 months and 28 days.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ephraim and Rena Trambly, and husband Frank Sanger.
She is survived by her son Warren Sanger and wife Dixie of Ashland, NE; son Alan Sanger and wife Carol of Kearney; and daughter Debra Anderson and husband Larry of Clarks, NE. Her grandchildren include: Travis Sanger and wife Jessica of Pukwana, SD; Melissa Jacobs, husband Jason, and their sons Benjamin, Malachi and Christian of Kearney; Eric Sanger, wife Jennifer, and their son Hunter of Kearney; Nathan Anderson and wife Stephanie of Denver, CO; and Matthew Anderson of Omaha. Other surviving family members include her brother Merle Trambly and wife Lorraine of Franklin, sister Doris Keatts of Walla Walla, WA; sister Naomi Gorham and husband Tom of Boulder City, NV; sister Madelyn Lynch of Kearney; plus many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A celebration of life service for Ethel I. Sanger, was held Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at 10:30 am at the Zion Lutheran Church, Macon, Nebraska, with Pastors Baron and Nancy Cole officiating. Interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery, Franklin, Nebraska. Memorials are to eht Zion Lutheran Church, Macon, Nebraska.
