Gary Leroy Frerichs, 67, rural Hildreth was born June 13, 1954 at the Franklin Memorial Hospital to Edwin J. and Evonne “Bonnie” Frerichs. He passed from this life Monday, March 21, 2022.
Gary was baptized at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church north of Bloomington. He was confirmed in his faith at Grace Lutheran Church, Franklin, by Pastor Ernstmeyer. He attended Bloomington and Wilcox Public schools.
Music was a big part of Gary’s life from a young age. He taught guitar lessons and played in several bands.
Gary combined his lifetime love of learning, his skills as a welder and a mechanic, and his love of row crop farming to continue to build the family farm he worked most of his life.
He loved his family well, caring for his mother the past few years and enjoying his nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews whenever they came to visit. He spent hours wrestling, playing, and working with them. They loved to ride on the tractor with him. He had endless patience with their stories and games, especially the game where they hid the pliers he always wore on his belt.
Gary was preceded in death by his father Edwin Frerichs, his sister Peggy Frerichs Covey and his brother Bruce Alan Frerichs. He will be greatly missed but forever remembered by his mother Evonne (Bartels) Frerichs; his brother Doug Frerichs and wife Susan, Omaha, Nebraska; nephews David (Erin) Frerichs, Bethesda, Maryland, Daniel (Kristin) Frerichs, Omaha, Nebraska, Christopher (Shanna) Frerichs, Delray Beach, Florida, and Jackson Frerichs, Charlotte, North Carolina; his nieces Luci (Alex) Parrish, Florham Park, New Jersey and Emory (Adam) Frerichs, Austin, Texas; as well as his ten grandnephews and grandnieces; other relatives and his many friends and neighbors.
