George Swancutt

George Losey Swancutt was born November 30, 1927 in Ansley, Nebraska to Harve and Elizabeth Losey Swancutt. He passed away from this life on Monday, December 27, 2010 at Franklin County Memorial Hospital, Franklin, Nebraska at the age of 83.

He graduated from Franklin High School. He married Val Jean Maske on August 31, 1957 in Macon, NE. He received his Bachelors Degree from Kearney State College and his Masters Degree from Colorado Teachers College, Greeley, CO. He served as a Medic in the Army while stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He was a shop teacher in schools near Rocky Ford, CO, Beaver City and Omaha South in Nebraska. He taught at University of Missouri at Rolla from 1955 to 1992 when he retired. He collected and restored antique cars and was an avid quail hunter.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Swancutt, Franklin, NE; daughter Victoria Swancutt, McCook, NE; son Doug Swancutt, Franklin, NE; grandchildren Rachel, Renee and Rhiann. He was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter Leslie Ann.

Graveside services will be at 2:30PM Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Macon Union Cemetery, Macon, Nebraska with Rev. Nancy Leonard officiating. Graveside Military Honors by Franklin VFW Pot #5757 and Masonic Rites by the Franklin Masonic Lodge # 264 AF & AM. Burial will be in Macon Union Cemetery, Macon, Nebraska. The family suggests memorials to the Franklin Masonic Scholarship Fund.
