Inez Kennedy Grothaus, 101, of Franklin passed away March 12, 2012 at the Franklin Golden Living Center. She was born on February 2, 1911, on a farm near Guide Rock, Nebraska to Charles and Eva Mae (Brotherton) Kennedy.
She moved with her family to Franklin at one year of age. She attended District #49 school to the 8th grade. She married Everett Grothaus in October of 1928 and they started married life farming.
During the depression they lived on a farm south of Franklin. They needed to make more money so Inez decided to attend Hastings Beauty Academy and graduated in 1939. She started her career in Mitchell, Nebraska, then moved to Franklin and opened Inez's Beauty Shop in 1942. She also worked in Wellfleet, Nebraska and Buffalo Missouri for four or five years. After Everett died she moved back to Franklin.
She enjoyed flowers, working in the garden, fishing, quilting and crocheting. When she was 80 years of age she was still riding horses and when she was 82 she went deep sea fishing with nieces and nephews and caught a big red snapper.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Everett in 1972, brothers, Charlie, Harry, Walter and baby Lloyd and sisters, Elise, Alice, Minnie and Mary.
Left to mourn her loss is a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
