Jacob Bartels

Jacob Samuel Bartels was born Sunday, October 7, 2018 at 2:51am at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings, NE. He was 6 pounds, 3 ounces and 21 inches long. He then spent 8 days at Children’s Hospital in Omaha, NE before moving back to Mary Lanning Hospital for hospice. He was baptized Friday, October 12, 2018. Jacob passed away peacefully in the arms of his loving parents on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings, NE.

Jacob loved being snuggled, rocked and sang to. He loved getting to meet his siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, great-grandparents and other friends and family. He stole the hearts of anyone who met him.

Jacob only got 13 days with us on this earth but we have been praying for him before we even met him. Jacob’s middle name is a reminder of the bible verse 1 Samuel 1:27 “For this child we have prayed”.

Left to cherish Jacob’s memory are his parents Michael and Jill (Kahrs) Bartels of Riverton, big brothers Ryan-9 and Logan-7, big sister Ella-3, grandparents Dave and Nancy Bartels of Riverton, Bruce and Janet Kahrs of Naponee, great-grandparents Gerald and Carol Bartels of Franklin, Donna Silver of Holdrege, Doug and Betty Kahrs of Franklin, and numerous loving family and friends.

Jacob is preceded in death by great-grandparents Vern and Dorothy Theisen of Hastings and George Silver of Holdrege.
