James Carey

James "Jim" L. Carey passed away from this life on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at his home at the age of 87. He was born July 10, 1923 in Franklin, Nebraska to James Lee and Erva Tippetts Carey.

He graduated from Franklin High School. He married JuNelle Ortgiesen on June 24, 1946 in Franklin, NE. He owned the Carey Cleaners in Franklin for 40 years. He served in the Army during WWII. He was the past Commander for the VFW, Franklin Chamber of Commerce, lifelong member of the VFW and American Legion.

He is survived by his wife JuNelle Carey of the home, sons Doug Carey and wife Linda, Republican City, NE; Brian Carey and wife Karen, Auburn, Pennsylvania; grandchildren Nathan Carey and wife Jill, Lincoln, NE; Tyler Carey and wife Kelli, Kearney, NE; step grandchildren Katie, Lori, Erik and Andrew; Great Grandchildren Atley and Brynn Carey, Lincoln, NE; step great grandchildren Sophia, Lilly and Logan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister- Norma Madsen.

Funeral services will be at 2:00PM Saturday, April 2, 2011 at the United Methodist Church, Franklin, Nebraska with Rev. Nancy Leonard officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery with graveside military honors by the VFW Post #5757. Visitation will be 12PM to 8PM Friday, April 1, 2011 at Hutchins Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to the United Methodist Church.
