Jamie Rogers

Jamie Lynn Rogers, Franklin, Nebraska, was born to John R. and Patricia B. (Vigil) Thorpe, on May 22, 1978, at Salida, Colorado. She died on October 26, 2018, at Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska, after a long-term illness, at the age of 40.

Jamie had a nickname, “Sunshine,” as she was lovingly called by her family. Sunshine started kindergarten at Naponee Public School, on the last year the school was open. She went to Franklin Public School thru high school, Bethel College, Mishawaka, Indiana, and several of the Central Community Colleges in central Nebraska, and earned an Associate’s Degree.

Jamie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Her heart was always open to meeting new people and helping others. Jamie spent many hours outdoors, walking, hiking, fishing, camping and gardening. She was an avid reader and was always looking for ways to further her education and knowledge. She had a puppy named “Precious” whom she spent many hours lavishing over.

Jamie was active in church and dedicated to her faith in God, and shared her faith of others. She was a member of Crossgate Community Church in Franklin, Nebraska.

Jamie enjoyed traveling and shopping and in recent years combined the two into traveling all around Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, and Colorado as a mystery shopper.

Jamie is survived by her parents – John and Patricia Thorpe; brother – Roger Thorpe; and special friend – Michael Glynn, all of Franklin, Nebraska; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life service will be (was) Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at the Crossgate Community Church, Franklin, Nebraska, with Pastor Kasey Loschen officiating. Jamie’s cremated remains will be inurned at a later date in Colorado beside other relatives. The family will determine memorial charities at a later date in honor of the memory of Jamie Lynn Rogers.
