John Breeden

John Michael Breeden, 63, of Franklin, Nebraska, was born October 10, 1953 in Rocky Ford, Colorado, to Neva Lee (Beisner) and Augustine Younse Breeden and left this world on December 1, 2016, surrounded by family and friends.

John had two children, Zachariah and Autumn, before meeting Annetta (Robinson) Breeden of Smith Center, Kansas, who would become his lifelong companion. Their union produced three children: Amanda, Jennifer, and Michael. He was blessed with eight grand-children: Brenna, Christopher, Avienda, Dylan, Madison, Emmett, Elijah, and Jaedyn.

Those who called John friend will remember him as a rabble-rouser. Outspoken, opinionated and not afraid to challenge authority, John could be a fierce advocate and a refuge for those feeling a bit on the fringes themselves. He was always ready to "wheel and deal". He loved boxing. And music. And politics. And pranks. Man, did he love a good practical joke. Above all, he loved a good yarn. He'd talk your ear off, if you let him. He had a story for every situation, even if he had already told you that specific story a few dozen times.

But the joy he once found in pranks and general mischievousness was blighted by the loss of his wife in 2014. John never recovered. His health and happiness dwindled. We, his loved ones, find solace that he is now at peace and reunited with Ann.

He was preceded in death by his wife; mother; father; sister, Mary Louise; and red electric scooter. He is survived by five children, three sisters, a brother, and a host of grandchildren, family, and friends.

We invite you to join us for services on Thursday, December 8th at 11:00 am at Crossgate Community Church in Franklin, Nebraska. Friends may sign the register book, Wednesday, December 7th, 2016, at the Hutchins Funeral Home, Franklin, Nebraska. The family will name a charity at a later date for memorial donations. Hutchins Funeral Home, Franklin, Nebraska, was in charge of arrangements.
