John Karabin, Jr.

January 29, 1938 — December 4, 2009

John Joseph Karabin, Jr, was born January 29, 1938 on Phoenixville, Pennsylvania to John Joseph and Anna Karabin, Sr. He passed away from this life on Friday, December 4, 2009 at St. Francis Medical Center, Grand Island, Nebraska at the age of 71.

He attended catholic school in Phoenixville, PA. He was a 20 year military veteran. He married Margaret Wilmot on Jan. 28, 1983 in Grand Island, NE. He did his basic training in South Carolina. He served two tours in Korea and Thailand, and one in Japan. He was stationed in San Jose, CA, Tucson, AZ, Matagora, TX, Great Falls, MT, and Michigan. He was an avid fisherman, liked working in their large yard, and enjoyed deer hunting. He was a lifetime member of DAV.

He is survived by his wife Margaret, Bloomington, NE; Step-daughters: Leila Nelson and husband Dick, Grand Island, NE; Linda Linden and husband Delbert, Marquette, NE; and Bobbie Spangler and husband Bill, O'Neill, NE; 12 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be at 2:00PM, Friday, December 11, 2009 at Hutchins Funeral Home, Franklin, Nebraska with Rev. Neil Kloppenborg officiating. Friends may sign the register book from 8 AM to 12 PM Monday thru Thursday, and until service time on Friday at the funeral home. The body was cremated. Burial of ashes will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bloomington, NE. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the John Karabin Memorial Fund.
