Laura F. Adam

Direct cremation services were chosen by the Adam family. 

Laura Francis Adam, daughter of Marion and Ruby (Coleman) Davis, was born October 13, 1950 at Carrollton, Missouri. Her parents were teachers, and their family moved to Nebraska for various teaching positions as she was growing up. Laura graduated from Henderson High School, Henderson, Nebraska. She enrolled in Kearney State college where she roomed with MyRene Adam leading to her meeting MyRene’s brother Wilbur.

Wilbur and Laura were married on January 23, 1971 at the Lutheran Chapel on campus and to this union three children were born: Susan, Karen, and Benjamin. Laura was a wonderful homemaker as they lived in the Franklin County community. Following Wilbur’s death in 2002, Laura moved to Kearney and got a job at Wal-Mart. She loved working in the Deli where she spent ten years.

Besides her family, her first love was music. She played the organ for many years at Grace Lutheran, Franklin and continued in that role until recently. She also taught Sunday School, was a member of LWML, polling station worker, Extension Club, and enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and numerous friends.

Laura passed from this life Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at Ben and Katie’s home in Kearney, Nebraska. She is preceded in death by her parents Marion and Ruby, in-laws Elmer and Velma Adam, husband Wilbur E. Adam, son-in-law Tim Kolb, brothers William and Howard Davis, and brother-in-law Delbert Adam.

She will be forever remembered by her children; Susan (Richard) Hauver and Karen Kolb of Franklin, Benjamin (Katie) Adam of Kearney; grandchildren, Ryan Adam, Robert and Ashlee Hauver, Hayden Adam and Hannah (Andrew) Mares; brother Leon (Janelle) Davis; sister-in-law Ellyn Davis; brother-in-law Raymond (Henrietta) Adam; sisters-in-law MyRene (Jim) Petersen and Charlene (Maynard) Schriner; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Saturday, August 24th, 2024 at Grace Lutheran Church, Franklin, Nebraska with Pastor David Hutson officiating. Inurnment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Franklin. Memorials to the family’s choice to be designated.

A visitation where Laura’s family will be greeting family and friends at Grace Fellowship of Kearney, 4305 19th Ave., Kearney, NE on Friday, August 23rd from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
