Lucy Lorraine Splattstoesser, 88, of Franklin, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at the Franklin County Memorial Hospital.

Lucy was born on July 25, 1936 to William F. and Nina M. (Burch) Smith on the family farm in Osborne County, Kansas near the town of Portis. She attended grade school in Portis and Randall, Kansas and high school in Smith Center, Kansas.

On July 11, 1953 she was united in marriage to Glenn A. Splattstoesser, Sr. in Smith Center, Kansas and they were blessed with three children: Kay, Glenn, Jr. and Lisa.

Lucy worked at various jobs, the one that was closest to her heart was running a day care with Glenn for over 30 years, to this day the children she loved over all those years still call her “Grandma Lucy” She had a quick wit and always loved a good joke. Her fried chicken, potato salad and coconut cream pies were the best. Lucy loved the holidays, Husker games, and any excuse she could think of to get her family together.

She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn Splattstoesser, Sr. in March 2023; her parents Wm. F and Nina M. Smith; brothers Ancil and Frank Endsley; sisters Nadine Baker, Arlene Watkins and Verla Smith; in-laws Gustave and Grace Splattstoesser.

Lucy will be forever remembered by her children, Kay (Bill) Schmidt, Glenn, Jr. (Vicki) Splattstoesser, Lisa (Dallas Garnett) Splattstoesser; grandchildren Shelly (Mike Bower), Deanna (Mike) Lennemann, Becky (Matt) Bower, Gina (Brian) Welsh, Grady Splattstoesser (Joanna Van Den Boom), Jessie (Travis) Jackson, Lacey (Chris) Albert and Lindsay (Craig) West; 17 great grandchildren; 5 great, great grandchildren; her sister-in-law Norma Bolles; several nieces and nephews; and numerous day care children that lovingly called her “grandma Lucy”.

The family invites you to a Memorial Celebration of her Life at 1:00pm Tuesday, March 25th, 2025 at the Evangelical Free Church, Franklin, Nebraska. Memorials suggested to the Franklin County Hospital or the Franklin EMT’s.

Following her wishes, her body was donated to the Nebraska University medical Center for Anatomical Study. Following this study cremation will take place and she will be interred with husband Glenn, Sr. in Greenwood Cemetery. Hutchins Funeral Home, Franklin, Nebraska assisting the Splattstoesser family with these arrangements.
