Mabel Marie James was born April 5, 1912 in Ridgeway, Missouri to Guy and Jessie Gillespie Thompson. She passed away from this life on January 30, 2010 at Franklin County Memorial Hospital, Franklin, Nebraska at the age of 97.
Mabel attended school in Gillette, WY. She married Gerald Charles James on November 22, 1928 in Hardin, MT. He preceded her in death on February 17, 1991. She was a nurses aide at the Franklin County Memorial Hospital for many years. She was a member of the United Congregational Church of Christ. She was Treasurer for the Senior Citizens Center for many years. She was the rock of the family and was a fantastic mother. She loved to sew for her children and was very resourceful.

Richard James, Columbus, NE; Robert James & wife Myra, Bloomington, NE; Daughters: Alma Smith & husband Ed, Republican City, NE; Geraldine James, Franklin, NE; Sister: Mary Duca & husband Jack, Upton, WY; Grandchildren: Kortney James High & husband Eric, De Pere, WI; Valerie Smith & husband Al, Franklin, NE; Kelly James & wife Kathy, Riverton, NE; Stacey James & wife Monica, Franklin, NE; Michael James & wife Brenda, Riverton, NE; Jo Jan Seil & husband John, Franklin, NE; Shelly Kosch & husband Gordon, Columbus, NE; Chris Brumbaugh & husband Craig, Franklin, NE; Craig Tholson, Sterling, CO; Jim Tholson and wife Lisa, Steamboat Springs, CO; Chuck James & wife Deb, Naponee, NE; John James & wife Marlea, Concordia, KS; Bobby James & Kayla, Kearney, NE; 34 Great Grandchildren; 6 Great Great Grandchildren; numerous friends and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald James, brother Don Thompson, sisters: Dorothy Rankin and Gladys Gupton; parents, grandchildren: Infant twins, Deanna James, Stewart Lynn and Eugene LeRoy James.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 PM, Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Maple Grove Cemetery, Bloomington, Nebraska. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Franklin Senior Center, First Congregational Church of Christ, or Franklin County Memorial Hospital.
