Michael Stover

Michael "Mike" J. Stover was found at his home in Kearney, Nebraska on Friday, January 2, 2009 after he had died and entered into eternal slumber with God.
Mike was born on March 10, 1948 in Holdrege, Nebraska to Lamoine Leonard and Maxine A. (Schnuerle) Stover. He attended Franklin Public Schools and graduated from Franklin High School in 1966. He then attended McCook Junior College before moving to Chicago, Illinois, where he attended the Illinois College of Optometry. Mike married Gloria Mitchell in 1971 in Orleans, Nebraska. The newlyweds made their first home in Chicago, Illinois. This union was blessed with the birth of three children, Mitchell, Amber and Matthew. Sadly, this marriage ended in divorce. Throughout his life, Mike has enjoyed hunting, fishing, football, snow skiing, and boating, but his passion was his children. He treasured every moment he had with them. Mike was an active member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Kearney, and a member of the Masons.
He worked as an optometrist in Omaha and Kearney, and most recently had been working in sales.

He leaves to treasure his memory his three children, Mitchell and wife Lindsey Stover, Amber Stover and Mathew Stover, all of Omaha, Nebraska; two grandchildren, Peyton and Simon Stover of Omaha, Nebraska; his mother, Maxine Stover of Oxford, Nebraska; one brother, Gail and wife Connie Stover of Kearney and their two sons, Kyle and Tyler; one sister, Theresa Stover of Oxford and her daughter Carissa Brink; a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Mike is preceded in death by his father, Lamoine in 1966, and his grandparents.

Funeral services will be held from First United Methodist Church in Franklin, Nebraska on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Neil Kloppenborg officiating. Visitation will be 9AM to 8PM Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Hutchins Funeral Home. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Franklin, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to the family.
