Ruth Vanessa Petersen
Ruth Vanessa Petersen, 98, of Franklin passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2017. She was born on February 7, 1918 near Ord, Nebraska, the daughter of Andrew and Blanche (Emal) Petersen.
She graduated from Bloomington High School in 1937. After high school, Ruth lived in Franklin County, then moved to Plano and Bristol, Illinois. Years later, she returned to Nebraska living in Republican City and, finally, Franklin.

She dedicated her life to being a caregiver for family members and the elderly. Ruth had a loving heart and a servant's spirit, volunteering many hours at the senior center and the church.

Ruth never married nor had children. She is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Christina Ehrenhard, Kiersel (Kay) Petersen, Reye Goedeken, and five brothers, Neale, Ross, George, Warren, and Allen Petersen. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Ruth will be held on Friday, February 3, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Franklin with a reception following. Interment will take place in Yorkville, Illinois. Friends may sign the register book, Thursday, February 2, 2017 from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the Hutchins Funeral Home, Franklin, Nebraska.
