Val Jean Johnson passed away from this life on August 9, 2008 at Golden Living Center, Franklin, Nebraska, she was born March 30, 1930 in Naponee, Nebraska to Otto and Christina Loschen Bauerle. Val Jean attended Naponee Public School and graduated in 1947. She was united in marriage to Delton Bryce Johnson on December 27, 1948. He preceded her in death on June 28, 1985. They moved from their home in Franklin, to the farm north of Naponee in 1955. Val Jean worked at the Agriculture Stabilization Conservation Service in Franklin and retired in 1985 after 32 years of service. In her retirement she continued to enjoy life on her farm and her family and friends. She was a care giver for her sister Mary Ann in Texas. She enjoyed china painting and traveling. She enjoyed church activities, especially singing in the choir. She was a member of the Wesleyan Church, Hicks-Siegel Legion Auxiliary #364 and the Naponee Booster Club. She was preceded in death by her husband Delton, parents, sister Mary Ann Smith. Funeral services will be at 1:00PM Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at Napone Wesleyan Church, Naponee, Nebraska with Rev. Duane Lauber officiating. Visitation will be from 10AM to 8PM Monday, August 11, 2008 at Hutchins Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 6:30PM to 8PM. Burial will be in the Naponee City Cemetery, Naponee, Nebraska. The family suggests memorials to Naponee Wesleyan Church or American Arthritis Association.
