Verein McWilliams was born March 23,1916, to Wyman and Hilda (Craig) Griffing near Smith Center, Kansas, and she died November 28, 2007, at the Franklin County Memorial Hospital, Franklin, Nebraska, at the age of 91 years. On October 6, 1951, she was united in marriage to Harold "Red" McWilliams, in Smith Center, KS. Together they made their home in Arcadia, NE, Orleans, NE, and then moved to Franklin, NE. To this union were born 4 children, John, Tom, Judy, and Robin. Verein worked at Carey Cleaners in Franklin and also at Franklin Public Schools in the kitchen. She enjoyed being a homemaker, especially, gardening, canning, cooking, and sewing. She was preceded in death by both parents, one brother, 2 sisters, and her husband, Red.
A celebration of life service was held, Saturday, December 1, 2007, at the Hutchins Funeral Chapel, Franklin, Nebraska, with Pastor Neil Kloppenborg officiating. Music was preformed by Eunice Adam, organist, and Beth Johnson, soloist. The hymns were: "Nearer Thy GOd To Thee" and "Amazing Grace." Interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery, Franklin, Nebraska. The family suggests memorials to the Golden Living Nursing Home, Franklin, Nebraska.
